The names of two people found dead in a Terra Linda hotel room Saturday were not released Monday by police because next of kin had not been contacted, police said.
Margo Rohrbacher, spokeswoman for San Rafael police, said the family of one of the deceased had been reached but not the other. She said the names wouldn't be released until both families were notified.
The incident at Four Points By Sheraton hotel is being investigated as a murder-suicide. An 81-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman died of gunshot wounds, police said. A firearm was found in the room.
Rohrbacher said the police report indicated the couple were husband and wife, but investigators we're continuing to look into it because the people had different last names.
Phone messages left with hotel management were not returned.

A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
