A woman fatally stabbed her boyfriend during a fight at his central Broward home early Monday, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Investigators identified the boyfriend as Jeremiah Dixon, 21, who lived west of Fort Lauderdale.
The Sheriff's Office has not released the name of the woman but said Monday afternoon that she has not been charged in the incident.
Investigators on Monday afternoon were still trying to sort through exactly what happened, but they said that so far it appears the deadly fight escalated from an argument that began moments earlier at a Fort Lauderdale nightclub. During the argument, Dixon took his girlfriend's cell phone and went home, sheriff's officials said.
Dixon's girlfriend then went to Dixon's Roosevelt Gardens apartment in the 2500 block of Northwest 13th Court at about 2:20 a.m. to get her cell phone back. That's when the argument turned violent, and the girlfriend stabbed Dixon, officials said.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue took Dixon to Broward General Medical Center, where he later died, officials said.
The Sheriff's Office asks that anyone with information contact Homicide Detective Joe Ventura at 954-321-4210 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
