Garland police are searching for a man suspected of fatally shooting another man in the face shortly after midnight Friday at an apartment complex on Bass Pro Drive.
Royce Alan Dotson, 27, had been involved in an altercation with the victim over a girlfriend, police said. After the shooting, Dotson fled the scene at 4288 Bass Pro Drive near Interstate 30 in a red 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier with Texas license plate Z54-VYY, police said.
The victim, 33-year-old Patrick Shane Nunnelley, called 911 and was transported to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, police said. He later died.
Dotson is considered armed and dangerous, police said. Public records indicate that he has previous arrests on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, failure to register as a sex offender and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Anyone with information can call the Garland Crime Stoppers line at 972-272-8477.
