An area man wanted for shooting an ex-girlfriend in Missouri on Friday has been found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Shelby County, Mo. sheriff’s department officials said Patrick J. McIntire, 41, of Waverly was found dead Sunday outside a white Ford Explorer he had been driving.
The sheriff’s department was informed about 2:35 p.m. Sunday that the Explorer was parked in a wooded area about nine miles north of Bethel, Mo. which is about 50 miles west of Quincy.
A warrant for McIntire’s arrest was issued after an ex-girlfriend was shot north of Bethel just before noon on Friday. She was taken to a Macon, Mo. hospital.
McIntire was a registered sex offender after having been convicted of the aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 14-year-old in Macoupin County.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
