North County, MO: Suspect takes his own life during North County standoff

According to KMOV.com, a standoff with police this morning has ended with the suspect taking his own life in North St. Louis County this morning.
The incident took place at an apartment in the 6600 block of Chesapeake in unincorporated St Louis County.
Police were originally alerted of the situation when the suspect's mother called police around 3:00 a.m. concerned about her son.
When police arrived on the scene they learned that a 39-year-old man forced his way into his ex-girlfriend's apartment. She and two other men were inside at the time.
Police are reporting someone fired a shot or two inside the apartment, but no one was injured.
Authorities said the suspect held the hostages till around 6 a.m. All three of the hostages got out of the apartment safely. No word on if they were released by the suspect or if they were able to escape.
One hostage cut his hand going through a sliding glass window. That person was transported to a hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
The standoff lasted for another hour until police found the suspect dead inside the apartment. Police believe the suspect shot and killed himself. Clarence A. Temple
According to KMOV.com, the suspect's ex-girlfriend told police she had an order of protection against the suspect. She was going to court today to file a restraining order.
