WINFIELD, W.Va. -- A Putnam County man turned himself into to deputies after allegedly shooting his girlfriend to death in their Winfield home.
Eric Brian Pauley, 49, walked into the Putnam Sheriff's Office at about 10 p.m. Saturday to tell deputies that he had shot his girlfriend Debra Rosiek, 52, and that she possibly had died, Detective Shawn Johnson said Sunday.
Pauley gave deputies his address and the key to the trailer the couple shared.
Deputies went to the trailer in the Winfield Mobile Home Village Park and found Rosiek inside with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics, who arrived shortly after deputies, pronounced her dead at the scene.
Rosiek's body was taken to the office of the state Medical Examiner. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday morning.
Johnson said detectives do have a motive in the shooting but would not release it Sunday. The detective said Pauley used a pistol in the shooting but would not release further information on the weapon.
Pauley was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He is being held at Western Regional Jail without bond.

(NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
