On a warm Friday night, family and friends gathered outside a Vacaville home to remember a mother of four who was shot and killed Thursday evening.
Victoria "Vicky" Corral, 34, was described by family and friends as a Christian woman who loved the Lord and her children.

"It means the world to my family that you are here," said Corral's identical twin sister, Becky Corral. "She was a loving soul and always made people laugh. She was my best friend."

"This really shows how much she's loved," added Eva Maldanado, another of Corral's sisters. "We know that she's with her heavenly father right now."

On Thursday evening, their world turned upside down.

According to police, Vacaville dispatch received a call of shots fired in the 200 block of Cambridge Drive shortly before 10:40 p.m. and reported that a domestic violence incident had occurred and a woman had been shot.

The suspect, identified as Sidney Wilson, 33, of Vacaville, was booked into Solano County Jail in Fairfield on suspicion of homicide.

Corral and Wilson, according to police, had a long-term relationship and have two children in common.

Initially, officers on the scene were unable to contact Wilson inside the home.

Meanwhile, a 911 dispatcher was able to communicate with Corral's 17-year-old daughter in the house and directed her and the three other children to the rear of the residence, where a patrol officer was able to evacuate them to a safe location.

scene were later successful in communicating with Wilson and he was taken into custody. Corral was found on the ground in the garage, where she was pronounced dead by paramedics.
Detectives from the Investigative Services Section and the Family Investigative Response and Services Team responded to the scene and took over the investigation. The children in the home were taken into protective custody and later released to family members.

Even in the midst of tragedy, Corral's mother, Olga Saltiban, encouraged the crowd to pray for the children and to remember her daughter's life, not death.

"You have honored her and loved her tonight," Saltiban said, adding that the group should also pray for the man suspected of killing her daughter.

The Sanctuary Church is handling donations in memory of Corral. Send donations to P.O. Box 3015, Vacaville, CA 95696.
