ST. LOUIS • A pregnant woman was shot and killed on the parking lot of a loft apartment building near Lafayette Park Tuesday evening.
A man who was with her was also shot; he was in serious condition. The status of the baby was not immediately available.
The two were shot in a parking lot on the east side of the WireWorks Lofts on 18th Street about 5:29 p.m., according to St. Louis police Capt. Kenneth Kegel.
The pregnant woman was shot in the head, authorities said. The man was shot in the torso.
They were taken to St. Louis University Hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead. The man was "up and walking around" before being taken to the hospital, Kegel said.
Kegel said homicide detectives are working on identifying a suspect in the ongoing investigation. Authorities said they believe the shootings stemmed from a domestic dispute.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
