MARYVILLE — A 37-year-old man has been charged with the shooting death of his wife, according to the Blount County Sheriff's Office.
Danny Ray Brewer is being held at the Blount County jail in lieu of $950,000 bond on a charge of criminal homicide, said BCSO spokeswoman Marian O'Briant.
Sheriff's deputies were called to Brewer's Sevier Avenue apartment Thursday, where they found Jennifer L. Brewer, 28, with a gunshot wound, O'Briant said.
The victim was taken to Blount Memorial Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
Brewer is scheduled for an initial appearance in Blount County General Sessions Court on Sept. 19.
More details as they develop online and in Monday's News Sentinel.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
