Police have arrested a Wylie man they say fatally shot his estranged wife’s friend during an apparent domestic disturbance Friday night.
Dao Truong, 28, was taken into custody on a murder charge after police found the friend bleeding along the sidewalk about 11:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Sierra Blanca Drive, near South Ballard Avenue.
The victim, who wasn’t identified, was taken to a hospital, where he died.
The estranged wife told police that Truong sent her a text message earlier in the day telling her to come to their home or else he would destroy everything inside.
She went to the home but not before dropping off her friend.
When the wife, who also wasn’t identified, got out of her car, Truong asked where her friend was, and the wife said he wasn’t with her.
The wife went inside the home briefly, and when she came outside, she saw Truong and the friend arguing. It’s unclear how the other man arrived at the location.
The woman told police that the two men moved out of her view and that she heard a gunshot and the sound of a car speeding away.
Police found Truong and booked him into the Wylie Jail. Bail was set at $250,000.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
