Police are investigating the killing of a 21-year-old Brooklyn mother Wednesday as a possible murder and attempted suicide, authorities said.
The father of their 2-year-old daughter was found in the victim's Lenox Road apartment in Flatbush alive but with an apparently self-inflicted stab wound to his chest at about 9:07 a.m., a law-enforcement official with knowledge of the case said.
The man, identified as Akeem Deane, 21 years old, was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. Police believe he stabbed the victim, Natisha Barrow, before attempting suicide, the official said.
A suicide note believed to have been written by Mr. Deane was recovered at the scene, the official said. The daughter was uninjured in the incident.
Mr. Deane was in custody but had not yet been charged late Wednesday, police said
