DeKalb County authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Rainsville Monday.
According to DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris, a Rainsville couple died in a shooting at their home. Harris said family members discovered the bodies of Brandy Alison Matthews, 30, and Joshua Taylor Matthews, 31, in their home around noon Monday on County Road 657 in Rainsville.
According to authorities, Brandy Matthews had been shot multiple times, while Joshua Matthews was shot once in the head.
The bodies were sent to Huntsville for a forensic examination, according to Harris.
"We are continuing to question friends and family members to determine a possible motive for this tragic incident," said Harris. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Matthews' families."
