SOUTHFIELD, Mich.
A Detroit man has been found dead in a car less than an hour after police in one of the city's northern suburbs identified him as a suspect in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend.
Southfield police Lt. Nick Loussia (loo-SEE'-uh) says Mitchell Kitchens' body was found before 11 a.m. Friday in a parked car in nearby Royal Oak.
Loussia says the 31-year-old appears to have shot himself.
Police say they responded to a report of a shooting about 7 p.m. Thursday at Daphane Ramey's Southfield home and found her lying in the doorway. Ramey had been shot multiple times and died at the scene.
Detroit Public Schools officials say she was a teacher at Douglass Academy for Young Men.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
