A standoff in Greenville County ends with one man dead. It started when a man shot at deputies on Arch Street in Greenville County. Deputies were called out to the home around 5:00pm after a man locked his wife out of the house. The man was wanted on domestic violence and firearm charges.
Deputies tried to talk the man out and that's when officers and neighbors heard gunshots. Deputies called for back-up. Around 7:00pm, SWAT officers fired tear gas inside the home and went in. They say the man had apparently shot and killed himself. The Greenville County Coroner's Office has not released the man's name.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
