A man apparently shot his ex-wife’s boyfriend and then took his own life after law enforcement officers responded to a 911 call Saturday afternoon.
The man has been identified as Patrick Rasco, 38, who apparently shot himself in the backyard at his ex-wife’s house on West Kyle Place near Noccalula Falls, Etowah County Coroner Michael Gladden said.
A caller to 911 reported there was an argument and then gunfire.
Shannon Keith Gaskey, 36, Steele, was shot on the front porch of the house, Gladden said.
After the shooting, Rasco apparently went to the backyard at the house and was there when Gadsden police officers arrived.
Officers had their guns drawn, attempting to get the man to put down his weapon when he shot himself.
The house is in an area behind Noccalula Church of God, just off Noccalula Road.
The bodies of Rasco and Gaskey are expected to be transported to Huntsville today for autopsies.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
