LUDINGTON, Mich. (WOOD) - Police in Ludington will hold a news conference Wednesday morning to further discuss the deaths of a 7-year-old girl and 39-year-old man.
Authorities responded April 28 to a stabbing at a home at 1082 Pineway St. and found Chloey Stoudt dead. The Kent County coroner said the child died from asphyxia due to suffocation, and called her death a homicide.
James Belanger, of Montague, was also in the residence, suffering from a self-inflicted stab wound to the heart. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
Investigators never released information about what was going on in the home that may have led to the two deaths, and they never said if someone was actually responsible for Chloey's death.
Belanger and Chloey's mom, Kelly, had dated for about three years, family members told 24 Hour News 8, but had broken up and remained friends.
So stay tuned for the latest developments throughout the day, as 24 Hour News 8 has a crew at Ludington City Hall.
