SAN ANTONIO -- After more than 7 years, police have made an arrest in the beating death of a South Side woman.
John Johnstone, 55, is accused of killing Darla Hughes back in 2003. Johnstone was Hughes' boyfriend at the time of the killing. Investigators say they have been able to gather enough evidence to allow them to issue an arrest warrant for Johnstone.
We caught up with Johnstone as he was being taken into custody.

Darla Hughes was beaten to death in her home in the 300 block of Avondale on June 13th, 2003. Hughes and Johnstone lived together at the time. Police questioned Johnston the night of the crime but did not arrest him.
