CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - Eddy County authorities say they're investigating a possible murder-suicide involving a Carlsbad man and his teenage daughter.
County sheriff's deputies were called to a home on Mora Street around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for a welfare check involving a suicidal person.
Inside the home, deputies say they found the bodies of 35-year-old Derek Ross and his 13-year-old daughter. Deputies say both victims had gunshot wounds. The name of the teenager has not been released.
Sheriff's officials says the Ross family had a history of domestic violence but didn't elaborate.
They say the bodies have been taken to the medical examiner's office in Albuquerque as part of the investigation into the deaths.
