CLEARWATER - Police are investigating a shooting and stabbing that stemmed from an argument over a woman and left one man dead.
According to detectives, Luis Rodriguez and Nestor Rizo got into an altercation in the parking lot of the MacArthur Park Apartments on Drew Street shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday. Investigators say Rodriguez had discovered that his live-in girlfriend was also involved with Rizo.
Rodriguez was shot during the fight and later died at Bayfront Medical Center, police say.
Rizo was stabbed and also accidentally shot himself, according to police, and was taken to Bayfront for surgery. Police say he is expected to survive.
Detectives are investigating what led to the shooting and stabbing and who was the aggressor. Police have not yet made any arrests.
