Northwest Arkansas Woman Pleads Guilty to Mom's Murder
An additional arrest has been made related to the death of a Washington County woman.
Sheriff's deputies arrested Bob Devor, 67, Monday morning following a traffic stop on Weddington Drive in Fayetteville. He's the husband of the late Pauline Devor who was murdered by her daughter Delores Eggert in 2007.
Devor has been charged with Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution from Capital Murder, a class B felony. Police say on June 15, 2007, he called the sheriff's office and claimed his home on Highway 244 in Siloam Springs had been burglarized and his wife was missing. According to the sheriff's office, statements from witnesses and other evidence showed that Devor staged a crime scene to mislead investigators. Investigators also say Devor gave Eggert money and a vehicle so she could get out of the area and avoid being arrested for her mother's death.
Investigators say they also discovered Devor was having a sexual relationship with Eggert, his step-daughter, before and after Pauline's murder.
Sheriff Tim Helder says the relationship played a role in the homicide.
He says, "We're pleased that theres a conclusion in this case. Obviously it's disturbing to say the least when you have a family member that would murder another family member, a daughter mother, but theres so many weird things involved in that case where you've got Dee alleging that she had an affair with her Stepdad a year prior to the murder, and a lot of that had to do with the homicide.
Eggert was to have gone on trial for 1st Degree Murder charge Monday, but instead pleaded guilty to killing her mother and burning the body. Eggert was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Investigators say Eggert beat her mother with a tire iron, then shot her. The remains were found last year on a farm the family owned outside of Fayetteville. Officials were told where to find the body by a person who helped burn and hide the corpse.
