AMARILLO, Texas — A developer in the Amarillo area is charged with killing his estranged wife and leaving her body in a vehicle.
Paul David Gillette was in the Potter County Detention Center on Monday on a murder charge, with bail set at $1 million. Jail records had no listing of an attorney for the 47-year-old Gillette, who was arrested Sunday at the couple's residence.
Gillette, who created a financially troubled housing development in Bushland, is accused of killing 44-year-old Sherri Gillette.
Deputies were called to the home early Sunday on a report of a woman being assaulted.
Officer Jimmy Rifenberg with Potter-Randall Special Crimes Unit says Gillette allegedly put his wife's body in an SUV in the garage. Sherri Gillette filed for divorce last November.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
