Husband faces first-degree murder charge

A Little River County, Ark., man accused of killing his estranged wife at a deer camp is mentally compentent to stand trial in October on a first-degree murder charge.
During a recent competency hearing at Little River County Courthouse, J.T. Wright, 44, was ruled mentally competent to help in his defense. Judge Tom Cooper of the 9th Judicial Circuit Court made the ruling.
Cooper set pretrial hearings for Sept. 14 and Oct. 19 to present evidence and conduct hearings to finalize documents.
The trial date is Oct. 25, said Andrea Billingsley, Little River County.
