Monroe, NJ: 75-year-old NJ woman held in husband's killing

A 75-year-old New Jersey woman has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of her 80-year-old husband.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan said Ruth Zucker was arrested early Thursday, hours after the body of her husband, Harvey, was discovered in the living room of their home in a gated retirement community in Monroe.

The body was found by the couple's son, who had arrived at the residence to visit his parents shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday. Harvey Zucker had been stabbed multiple times.

Ruth Zucker's attorney, Leigh-Anne Mulrey, entered a not guilty plea on her behalf at an arraignment Thursday in New Brunswick.

Judge Joseph Paone (pay-OWN') set bail at $200,000 and ordered that Zucker undergo a psychiatric evaluation. She remains in custody.
