Federal agents arrested a California man this week in Eagan after he had allegedly shot and killed his wife at her Los Angeles apartment.

Dejames Oree Henderson, 30, of Los Angeles is accused of killing his 30-year-old wife, Shavonna Jones, on May 22 with a single gunshot to her head, said Shiara Dávila-Morales, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.

On July 28, the Los Angeles police obtained an arrest warrant for Henderson, charging him in her death. Henderson's whereabouts were unknown at the time.

Los Angles police later learned Jones had fled to Minnesota and that he vowed not to be taken alive, the FBI stated. On July 30, authorities obtained a federal arrest warrant for Henderson, charging him with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

On Tuesday, the FBI's Minnesota Fugitive Task Force located Henderson in the 3200 block of Hill Ridge Drive. When Henderson saw the officers, he began to walk away.

With their weapons drawn, authorities ordered him to stop and placed him under arrest without incident, the FBI reported. Henderson told authorities he did not know why he was being arrested and claimed his name was Jeremy. He admitted his true identity after authorities showed him a copy of his California driver's license photo.

Special Agent Steve Warfield of the FBI Minneapolis Field Office said it was unclear what ties Henderson has in Eagan but that he was staying at a Hill Ridge Drive address.

the Dakota County Jail in Hastings on Thursday, awaiting extradition to California. Los Angeles authorities set a preliminary bail for Henderson at $2 million, Dávila-Morales said. His bail will officially be set once he appears in California court.
He faces one count of premeditated murder, according to Los Angeles County court records.

Henderson's criminal record also includes five charges of assault with a deadly weapon, property damage, burglary, threatening to inflict great bodily harm or death to a person, and domestic assault, in connection with a June 2009 incident.

All five charges were later dismissed or not prosecuted. Dávila-Morales said she would not comment on the 2009 case because any prior criminal activity involving Henderson would be part of the district attorney's current investigation.
