HOUMA, La. – A man shot and killed his girlfriend with a shotgun before taking his own life in Houma, officials said Thursday.
After coming home from school, the woman’s 15-year-old daughter found the couple lying dead on the kitchen floor inside of their mobile home in the 4400 block of Grand Caillou Road, said Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Vernon Bourgeois.
Bourgeois said 41-year-old Bryan Scott shot his girlfriend, 39-year-old Shannon Vitrano, in the head with a shotgun before turning the gun on himself.
The couple was having problems before the shooting, and Vitrano had been planning to leave Scott on the day of her death, Bourgeois said.
