"He was a friend of mine. That's a friend that's not here no more," says friend Gina Jones.
26-year-old Maxwell Pomeroy was stabbed to death in this home on East Washington Street in Georgetown Monday afternoon, according to the Scott County Coroner. Police say when they arrived around 1:30, they found Pomeroy already dead and woman inside the home
That woman was taken to the police station for questioning.
"We're hoping to get some information from the female who was here during whatever transpired. So we're hoping that she can give us some information on what happened," explains Georgetown Police Lt. Robert Swanigan.
Family members tell ABC36 that woman is 35-year-old Mindy Turner. They say Turner and Pomeroy had been dating for a few months. Jones went to high school with Pomeroy and lives next door to the two. She says she's in shock.
"He's not a violent person. He was earthy type of guy. He was very cool. He loved music. He liked people," comments Jones.
Neighbors say they recently saw the couple fighting, just last Saturday, they say the two got in a heated argument here in the front yard of the home.
"Mindy was laying on the ground and Maxwell was over top of her and she kept yelling call the police. Maxwell came to my car and said she tried to stab me. I said are you okay? do you want me to call the cops? And he said no it's okay, she's just drunk and I assumed everything was fine until today. I guess it really wasn't fine," says Jones.
Police haven't made any arrests.
