Maries County authorities have filed a first-degree murder charge against a Meta man, alleging he killed his girlfriend last month.

On Saturday, Terry Fritz, 39, was charged with causing the death of Kinga Gillibrand, 35, by shooting her on or around June 8, which is the last time she was seen alive.

He was being held on a $500,000 bond in the Maries County Jail.

Fritz could face additional charges, according to Sheriff Chris Heitman.

Fritz was Gillibrand's boyfriend, and they have a child together. He was the last person to see her alive, but did not report her missing until two weeks later.

Authorities found personal items that belonged to Kinga in a dumpster at an apartment complex in Rolla.

Authorities used cadaver dogs and ATVs on Saturday, along with foot and air patrols, to try and find Gillibrand's body.

Multiple law enforcement agencies joined in the search of the 300 acres that the home sits on, and there were searches of a nearby lake and ponds with no signs of Gillibrand's body.

Heitman said he plans to continue searching through the weekend.

Fritz's attorney, Ross Busch, had no comment on the case. He also had no idea when his client's first court appearance might be.
