HOUSTON -- A New Year's Day argument between a lesbian couple in
Houston turned deadly, and police are calling the shooting incident a
murder-suicide.
Ana Flores, 24, called 911 about 6 pm Tuesday, Jan. 1, after an
argument involving her partner Belinda Espinoza, 29, turned into a
heated domestic dispute.
Espinoza's family told police that she had called them before the double shooting and had threatened suicide.
The couple had been together for more than three years and considered
themselves to be engaged. Over the years, they had documented their
lives on their Facebook pages, where multiple photos show images of a
happy couple.
On New Year's Day, Espinoza posted a photo (seen above) of the two
showing Espinoza kissing Flores on the cheek, accompanied by a caption
saying "I love you too."
One photo, now chilling to view, shows Espinoza pointing a gun at an unknown target in a backyard.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
