Hopkins County, KY: Husband shot multiple times, survives; wife killed by single self-inflected gunshot wound

HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) -
On Friday morning, the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office responded to the 1800 block of Forest Acres Loop on a Domestic Dispute call.

Deputies learned that a man named David Marks had been shot multiple times and was at a neighbor's house.

The shooter was identified as the victim's wife, Roberta Marks. They then discovered that she had returned home.
Deputies secured the scene and began attempts to contact Roberta Marks.  After one of these attempts a single gunshot was heard from inside the home.
Fearing for the safety of Marks deputies entered the house and found Roberta Marks sitting on a bed in the back of the house with a gun in her hand.

She refused to put the weapon down and leave the bedroom.

Deputies spoke with her for several minutes until they were able to disarm Marks.  At that time they discovered that Roberta had a self inflicted gunshot wound.
Deputies administered first aid until Med Center Ambulance Service arrived.
Roberta Marks and David Marks were transported to the hospital in separate ambulances where both underwent emergency surgery.

Roberta was unable to overcome her injuries and died during surgery.
David Marks underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition.
Kentucky State Police and Med Center Ambulance assisted at the scene.
