A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.)
When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
Memphis police have identified the man killed in an attempted murder-suicide Wednesday night as Robert Lumpkin, 61.
The incident happened about 8:20 p.m. in the 1800 block of Parnassus in the Nutbush area. Responding officers found Lumpkin and a 46-year-old man lying in the front yard with gunshot wounds. The other victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Police believe the incident was an attempted murder-suicide between neighbors. Lumpkin reportedly confronted his neighbor about an alleged affair between Lumpkin's wife and the neighbor. Lumpkin shot the neighbor several times and then turned the gun on himself, police said.
