Henry County authorities say Brian Feltman, 27, ran down Megan Pope, 27, on purpose. He is charged with murder and feticide.
"He kept yelling she's three months pregnant. She's my girlfriend," neighbor Damien Powers told Channel 2 Action News.
But based on evidence and interviews, police think Feltman intentionally ran over his girlfriend.
Powers said the couple had gotten into an argument and Feltman had been looking for Pope.
Pope had walked away from the home she shared with Feltman, police said.
"Initial statements seemed to indicate that he just come upon her in the roadway and may have led us or initial officers to believe that someone else had struck her," Henry County police Maj. Jason Bolton said about Feltman, who they said denied hitting Pope.
Police told Channel 2 Action News there was some sort of gathering at the home before the incident.
Feltman's first court appearance is set for Monday.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
