50-year-old woman was killed and a 53-year-old man wounded in what police say appears to be a murder suicide in a West Rogers Park home Thursday morning, authorities said.
A man and a woman going through a divorce started arguing in the home in the 2900 block of West Sherwin Avenue a little before 9 a.m., Chicago police said, citing preliminary information.
Their children locked themselves in a room and called 9-1-1, police said.
At some point during the call or argument, the man shot the woman in the head before turning the gun on himself, police said. The woman died.
The woman was identified as Nancy Nathan, of the same address, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. She apparently died of multiple gunshot wounds, an autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
Daniel Nathan, 53, was pronounced dead just before 12 a.m. Friday morning.
Area North detectives continued to investigate the shooting.
