Dickson, TN: Police chase ends in deadly crash

A domestic dispute led to a police chase and a deadly crash at 8:15 a.m. on N. Hummingbird Lane, according to authorities.

After an altercation at his ex-girlfriend’s house, Dickson County Sheriff deputies chased the driver’s vehicle from Hwy. 49 in Charlotte to N. Hummingbird Lane in Dickson, deputy Jerone Holt said.

The driver swerved to avoid spike strips set up by the Dickson Police Department and crashed into a fence and a tree near Vulcan Materials on N. Hummingbird Lane, according to authorities. The driver was dead at the scene. No other passengers were in the vehicle.

The suspect arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s house in Charlotte earlier this morning and got into an altercation with her and her current boyfriend, Holt said. The suspect went out to his car and the female called the police.

The female told authorities the driver might have a gun, but Holt said that was never confirmed.

The chase led down Hwy. 49 to Jones Creek Road, then to N. Hummingbird Lane. That’s when the driver swerved to avoid the spike strips, Holt said.

Holt said they didn’t have identification on the suspect, but they believed he was from Nashville.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
