The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office Saturday booked a 52-year-old Mesa man into the Camp Verde Detention Center on suspicion of second-degree murder in the shooting death of a 62-year-old woman in Seligman early Friday morning.
YCSO public information officer Dwight D'Evelyn said sheriff's deputies took suspect Robert Wiesner into custody early Saturday afternoon after he allegedly shot and killed Lorraine Long at about 4:30 a.m. Friday at a home in the Sierra Verde Ranch area of Seligman.
Sheriff's deputies say Wiesner was hospitalized at Flagstaff Medical Center with a gunshot wound on Friday, but they are not certain if the wound was self-inflicted or an accident. Deputies say they have recovered a weapon in the case and have no other outstanding suspects.
D'Evelyn said no bond has been set for Wiesner, who was set to have an initial appearance in court this morning.
The victims in the shooting apparently knew each other and may have been involved in some kind of domestic dispute that began in the Phoenix area and culminated in Seligman, D'Evelyn added.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
