NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Tennessee parolee has been charged in the slaying of a woman whose body was found burning on the side of a road in north Nashville.

Adrian Lamont Henry, 26, was charged Saturday night with criminal homicide in the death of his girlfriend, Saret Vit, Metropolitan Nashville Police said in a news release.

Authorities said the 22-year-old victim was probably dead before her body was set afire. She was found late Thursday night.

The police said they learned that Henry was the last person seen with Vit. During an interview with him, detectives noticed burned skin on his face and right arm, as well as scratches on his chest and back.

Video from the restaurant where Vit worked showed that Henry visited her on Thursday wearing a gray shirt, police said. A charred gray shirt was recovered near Vit’s body.

Henry has convictions from 1999 for attempted first-degree murder and attempted especially aggravated robbery, according to police. He registered with the police department as an ex-con on parole in December 2008.

Henry was being held Sunday in the Metro Jail. His bond was set at $1 million.
