EAGAN, MN - Authorities report that an Eagan, Minnesota couple that were fatally shot Tuesday had connections with Jamestown.
Police report 42-year old Charles Hanson, a Jamestown high school graduate, and his wife, 24-year old Svetlana Hanson, were shot through the front window of their home in Eagan. Police report the gunman then went into the backyard and killed himself.
The couple’s three children were asleep and not injured during the shooting which occurred about 10 p.m. Tuesday night. Eagan police say one was the couple’s infant daughter, while the other two were Hanson’s from a previous marriage.
The Star Tribune also reported that Svetlana Hanson’s father was in the home at the time, but was not injured.
Authorities don’t believe anyone else was involved in the shooting and confirmed this morning that Svetlana Hanson had an order for protection out against her ex-husband. They also confirmed that officers had been to the Hanson home twice in the past year responding to calls of violation of the protection order.
According to an obituary in the Jamestown Sun a memorial mass for Charles and Svetlana Hanson is scheduled for Tuesday, August 17 at the Basilica of St. James in Jamestown, with inturnment at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown.
