Shreveport, LA: Fund set up for victim killed by estranged husband

HREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A memorial fund is set up for the family of a Shreveport woman killed by her estranged husband in a domestic dispute. Donations can be made at Barksdale Federal Credit Union under the Cindy Johnson West Angels account. The Times reports (http://bit.ly/WVUq1w ) the 34-year-old woman was fatally shot last week after police received several calls that a man was threatening a woman at gunpoint in a car. Responding officers pursued a vehicle matching the description. During the chase, they heard gunshots coming from inside the car. The driver, 42-year-old Donnie Ray Plater, was shot and killed by police as he fired shots at the officers while exiting the car. They later found West in the car's front seat, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The woman leaves behind two daughters.
