OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Ogden authorities have identified a man found dead in a home after a police shootout as 35-year-old Aaron Matthew Collier.
Weber County Attorney Dee Smith would not say if Collier died of a gunshot wound, and if so, whether he was shot by police or shot himself. Smith says he is awaiting results of an official autopsy report.
Police responded to the home early Sunday after a woman called in a domestic violence report. Investigators say officers exchanged fire with a suspect, and when negotiations with a SWAT team ended, officers entered the home and found the suspect dead.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported Tuesday that Collier pleaded guilty in 1998 to misdemeanor cohabitant abuse and was accused of domestic violence in a 2009 petition for a protective order.
