TERRE HAUTE — Enzert G. Lewis, 38, previously considered a person of interest in the death of Allyson J. Elmi-Lewis, 39, is being charged with her killing.
At a news conference this afternoon, the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office announced the murder charge against Lewis, who also is accused of altering a scene of death, obstruction of justice and invasion of privacy.
The Terre Haute woman’s remains were found earlier this month in eastern Vigo County. Lewis, the victim’s estranged husband, was being held in the Vigo County jail on a misdemeanor charge for violating a no-contact order with the victim.
Lewis will be in court at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
