Woodbine, MD: Woodbine woman fatally shot; boyfriend charged

WOODBINE, Md. (AP) -
Maryland State Police have arrested and charged a woman's live-in boyfriend after they say he shot and killed her Sunday during an argument.

Police identified the woman as Brittany Warfield, 21 of Woodbine. She was pronounced dead shortly after 9:00 a.m. Monday after she had been shot in the head.

Police arrested William Brueckmann, 26, with first and second degree murder and manslaughter. Brueckmann remains incarcerated in the Carroll County Detention Center.

Police say shortly after 9:30 a.m., Sunday the Sheriff's Office got a 911 call from someone reporting gunshots in a nearby residence during what appeared to be a possible domestic argument. When officers arrived, Brueckmann was found in the backyard of the residence holding Warfield, who was lying on the ground.

Police observed Warfield had sustained what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. She was flown to Shock Trauma where she later died.

The preliminary information suggests that Brueckmann and Warfield lived together and an apparent argument ensued yesterday morning that resulted in the shooting.

Police say Warfield had been preparing to move out of the apartment.

A handgun was recovered from inside the home, as well as several other long guns.
