When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
Rapid City police say two people were killed in a possible murder-suicide Tuesday night.
Brad Swanson, 58, and Deb Ohlmacher, 55, both of Rapid City were pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from the Rapid City Police Department.
At 9:15 p.m., police were called to an apartment on Woodrun Lane for a possible shooting. A third party told police there was a man inside the apartment with a firearm who had killed his girlfriend, according to police.
The Special Response Team was called out to assist and made contact with the man inside. He told police that he had killed his girlfriend and refused to cooperate further. When the team made entry to the home, they found the man and a woman inside with gunshot wounds.
Based on initial evidence, investigators from the Rapid City Police Department and the Pennington County Sheriff's Office believe the case is a murder-suicide, according to the news release.
