Chesterfield, VA: Central Virginia woman, 71, admits killing husband, disabled son; faces life prison term

CHESTERFIELD, Va. — A 71-year-old suburban Richmond woman has pleaded guilty to fatally shooting her husband and strangling her disabled son.
Estelle Virginia Jones of Matoaca entered the plea Tuesday in Chesterfield County Circuit Court. She entered pleas to one count of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder for the April killings of 71-year-old Joseph E. Jones and their 51-year-old son, Perry Jones.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/WuxrLh) reports that she faces a maximum sentence of up to life plus 40 years in prison.
Jones told detectives she killed her husband after he made disparaging remarks to her. She then killed her adult son, saying she feared for his future without her. She said she also attempted to kill herself.
