Houston, TX: HPD: Boyfriend who left kids alone with mom's body charged with murder, abandonment .

HOUSTON—Police have arrested and charged the boyfriend of a young mother who was stabbed to death in north Houston Monday while her infant daughter was in the same room.

Ronald Deshaun Green is charged with murder in the death of 27-year-old Ceceilia Sanders.

Sanders was found stabbed in the 5600 block of Yale near Tidwell, and her two little girls were left alone in the apartment with her body.

Sanders’ concerned mother had not heard from her all day Sunday and decided to go check the apartment shortly after midnight. When she walked inside, she found her daughter dead and the 7-month-old—Khyah—lying in the crib next to her. She then heard her 3-year-old grandchild screaming in the closet.

"When mom walked in the house, Kymora screamed, that’s how she knew Kymora was up in the closet," said Chateral Bishop, the victim’s sister.

Police said the young children may have witnessed their mother’s murder. Kymora sustained some sort of bump on the head, but it was not known if she was harmed by Green. The little girl was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but is expected to be physically OK. Khyah was not harmed.

Police said Green was the last person to see Sanders alive. He was found at a nearby gas station later that morning and was taken in for questioning.

"He was seen pacing back and forth in front of the apartment. He went in the apartment and that was the last time he was seen here," said Sgt. Warren Meeler, HPD Homicide.

Family members said while things were rocky, they could never imagine it would end like this.

"She never made it seem like ‘Oh well, you know my life is in danger,’ but who would say that if they’re afraid," Bishop said.

Bishop added she will truly miss her big sister.

"She’s my older sister that I looked up to, that I could talk to when I’m going through something so for me to lose a sibling like, really, I can’t explain how it feels."

"I love you, I love you and I am sorry I wasn’t there," said Curtis Sanders, the victim’s brother.

Sanders’ mother was overcome with emotion, screaming and crying for her daughter, as the young mother’s body was removed from the home.

Family members said Sanders was just getting her life started. She wanted to pursue a nursing degree and was an extremely devoted mom to her two daughters. The daughters will be raised by their grandparents.
