WASHINGTON, Pa. — A man accused of killing his live-in girlfriend has testified tearfully that he found the victim dead on the back deck of their western Pennsylvania home.

Forty-year-old Larry Boyd Jr. took the stand in his own defense Friday in his Washington County trial in the September 2009 slaying of 24-year-old Anna Marie Lutz.
He said he would never have hurt her.
Under cross-examination Boyd offered little explanation for blood spatters on the walls of the Claysville home and on clothing confiscated by police. The (Washington) Observer-Reporter says he also downplayed the idea that the two had argued about money, saying they "discussed" it.
Police said he told them the two had also argued about her drinking.
Prosecutors are to present rebuttal witnesses Monday, and closing arguments are expected after that.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
