By Jeremy Gray -- The Birmingham News
A Birmingham man arrested Wednesday in the slaying of an Adamsville woman was booked this evening into the Jefferson County Jail on a capital murder charge, according to the jail log.
Willie H. Forrest Jr., 57, is being held without bond on a charge of capital murder during a burglary.
Forrest was described by Adamsville police Wednesday as "a person of interest" in the slaying of Shellane Green, a mother, nurse and military reservist, who was found dead early Tuesday.
Efforts to reach Adamsville police for comment were unsuccessful tonight.
Forrest and Green married in 2003 and divorced in 2008.
Court records show Forrest was released from the county jail Monday where he had been held since Feb. 11 on charges of violation of a protective order and burglary. Authorities said Green was the victim in those cases.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
