SPENCER, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say a husband and wife have been found shot to death in an apparent murder-suicide at a burning Massachusetts home, and a horse suffering from several gunshot wounds was discovered in a barn on the property.
Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said in a statement that 69-year-old Michael Khoury was found with a gunshot wound in the doorway of his home shortly after 6:15 a.m. Thursday. He was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester where he was pronounced dead.
His wife, 66-year-old Joyce Khoury, was also found dead with a gunshot wound in a bedroom of the home in Spencer.
The horse was taken to Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grafton and is being evaluated there. There was no immediate word on its condition.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
