LOCH SHELDRAKE - An elderly man involved in a reported murder and suicide attempt near the hamlet of Loch Sheldrake is in “serious condition” in Albany Medical Center.
A hospital spokeswoman confirmed that Angel Ayala, who owns a manufactured home on 237 Hasbrouck A Road, was flown to the hospital on Tuesday night.
Authorities have confirmed that one person was found dead in the home. Sources say the person who died is an elderly woman, who is believed to be Ayala’s wife.
The death was initially reported at 11 p.m. Tuesday as a possible murder/suicide, where one person was dead on arrival and another flown in critical condition.
Ayala, an elderly man in his late 70s, has owned the home since 1984 and partially transferred ownership to Rose Noriega in 1994, according to county records.
District Attorney Jim Farrell has refused to divulge any details about the death and instructed state police and Fallsburg investigators to make no comment about it.
