CLAY COUNTY, Mo. -- Neighbors said they have no idea what led to an apparent murder-suicide that has left a husband and wife dead.
Neighbors said the couple who lived in the house in rural Clay County were friendly and private. The neighbors were shocked to learn of the violence surrounding the couple's deaths.
Clay County sheriff's deputies said that about 11:30 p.m. Sunday they received a distress call from inside the house at Northeast 124th Street and Southridge Drive.
Neighbors said Monday the couple's adult son lived with them and his car was in the driveway. Investigators said it appeared that the son came home and found the bodies and called police.
Officers said that the 58-year-old man and his 56-year-old wife both died from gunshot wounds, but they did not speculate about who shot whom.
The couple also had a daughter who did not live with them.
Investigators have not released the names of the victims.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
