WEST HAVEN, Conn.
West Haven police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after a man arrested on allegations of family violence returned home in violation of an order to stay away.
Police say Selami Ozdemir (Seh-lah-mee Ohz-deh-meer) was arrested for family violence offenses Saturday afternoon. As a condition of his release on bond he was prohibited from returning home until after he appeared in court.
But police say his wife, Shengyl Rasim (Shen-gill Rah-zeem), called police early Sunday morning to report that Ozdemir returned home and was banging on the door. Police say he left the scene before they arrived.
About a half hour later, police received another 911 call from the home. Police found the couple's bodies. Both were dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
Police are investigating, but are not seeking other suspects.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
