A woman who worked for Livingston High School in Livingston, Ala., died Wednesday afternoon after reportedly being shot by her ex-husband.
Livingston officials said Pelvin Gray, whom they thought was from Tuscaloosa, Ala., was taken into custody in Demopolis, Ala., after he crashed his vehicle while fleeing from the area. He is expected to be charged with murder.
The name of the victim, who died at a local hospital at around 4 p.m., is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Livingston City Administrator Johnny Meadows said Wednesday evening the shooting occurred just after 3 p.m. in front of the school. He said the majority of students had already left the school.
"This was a domestic disturbance," said Meadows. "The shooting wasn't inside the school and no one else was injured."
The school was locked down after the shooting for a short time.
Meadows said Gray fled the area in a vehicle that was later involved in a crash in Demopolis where he was then taken into custody.
